Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines permitted and prohibited uses of the Avalori platform. It applies to all users authorized by the contracting institution ("Customer"). Violations may result in suspension or termination of access per the Terms of Service.

• Upload, visualize, and analyze COUNTER5 usage statistics for the institution's own academic resources.
• Configure and run SUSHI 5.0 harvests using the institution's own vendor credentials.
• Analyze EZproxy logs generated by the institution's own proxy infrastructure.
• Generate reports and exports for the library's internal use.
• Share exported reports with academic authorities, accreditors, or the institution's auditors.
• Integrate Service data into the institution's collection management decision-making processes.

3.1 Data integrity

• Uploading falsified, manipulated, or inflated COUNTER reports that do not reflect actual usage.
• Introducing data belonging to another institution without express written authorization.
• Artificially inflating usage metrics to justify renewals or funding decisions.

3.2 Security and access

• Sharing login credentials with individuals outside the contracting institution.
• Attempting to access another institution's data or features not in the contracted plan.
• Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract the Service's source code.
• Automating access via bots, scrapers, or unauthorized tools.
• Introducing malware, malicious code, or exploits into the Service.

3.3 Privacy

• Using proxy log data to individually identify, profile, or monitor library end-users beyond what is strictly necessary for authorized institutional analytics.
• Publishing or sharing data that reveals individual library users' reading or search habits.

3.4 Unauthorized commercial use

• Reselling, sublicensing, or transferring access to the Service without Avalori's prior written consent.
• Using Service data to provide consulting or analytics services to third parties without Avalori's prior written consent.
• Using the Service to build or train competing products or services.

3.5 Legal and ethical

• Using the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or tortious purpose.
• Violating database vendor license terms for usage data analyzed in the Service.

• Read and comply with this AUP and the Terms of Service.
• Report suspected misuse to their institutional administrator.
• Keep SUSHI credentials current and notify Avalori if credentials are believed compromised.

• Ensure all authorized users are aware of and comply with this AUP.
• Promptly provision and deprovision user accounts.
• Notify Avalori immediately of any security incident related to the Service.

Upon confirming a violation, Avalori may: issue a written warning; temporarily suspend the account involved; terminate the service agreement; or report illegal activity to appropriate law enforcement authorities.

This AUP is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States.
